Unknown plug under the dash?

Have this unknown plug under the dash. The wiring goes up to the harness under the steering column. Im thinking maybe a brake controller? There is a "key" inside the plug that says "POWER PLUG" on it. Any ideas what if might be used for?

. . a brake controller use a key before . I'd say its for an anti- theft system of some kind . Take it you bought it used ?

Try to start your truck with the "key" removed. I had a similar device on my 98. 5 that would disable the truck - like an anti-theft device. It was keyed by jumpers in the removeable plug. If the wrong combination was used it would not start.

Anti Theft

Bingo... Took it out and the truck wont turn over. Never seen such a thing. I kinda like it, however if soemthing happned and I lost the key, Im pretty much screwed. May have a short cable made up and tether it under the dash. If I decide to use it, I can just stuff it under there so I wont loose it. To anyone else It'll just look like another brake controller plug.
