Does anyone else have this problem???

The cruise will stay at the same MPH, but the engine boosts up and down constantly. Was about a 2-3lb up and down, but now with the TST it's more like 5-6lbs. It's mildly annoying.

Seems to be something with the Smarty. Didn't have this issue stock or with the Super Chip programmer. Any ideas?

Nate mine does the same thing 5-10lb's when I come to slight hill. Never does it on flat ground??? RPM's and MPH dont change but the boost surge's like crazy, as soon as I shut off the cruise the surging stop's

Do a search for Smarty and cruise control... you will find the solution. If not here then check on NW Bombers. The trucks with a vac controled cruise can put the straw from a can of WD40 in the vac hose to the cruise solonoid and fix the problem. Also make sure you have the most up to date smarty software as I think Marco did some work on this issue early on.

You want to see surge, try Mach4's, Smarty on 8 and the drag comp on 5x5. You need to wear a seatbelt.

Yeah I have to turn the box to level 1 just to run the cruise

Nate,

Try a lower level setting on the smarty and see if the surge decreases. My cruise has problems, but was doing it before I installed the catcher software. Mine no longer surges, now it just continually adds gain to the cruise and keeps increasing in speed. I would really love to find a cure for this problem.

I searched before I posted this and didn't come up with anything. Does anyone have a link to the thread about this?

I downloaded the newest "cold idle" software not long ago. The cold idle deal don't work as well, so I dunno what's up.

I think it is NORMAL to have an unsteady cruise with any type of power upgrades. Think of it this way, the truck tries to maintain it's speed by adding fuel at a STOCK fueling rate. As soon as you disturbe the "stock" fueling rate by adding power upgrades the truck can't add the right ammount of fuel because WE have messed with the fueling rate :D

Thanks!

I must of not seen it cause I typed in "Smarty cruise" for the search, so it should have pulled it up.
