Up grade my radio!!

I want to upgrade my radio with; NAV, Backup Cam, Bluetooth. None of the local stores have anything that will work because of the dash layout. I am sure it needs a new Bezel in order to have the larger radio. They use to make radios with pop up screens for the slimmer fit dashes, but I can't find them anymore either. Anyone do this to their trucks or have the same problem?

I think the biggest problem is to find a solution that works with the bus system and power the amplifier.
For my self I installed an RB3 Unit out of a Grand Cherokee, works perfect together with the system. Even the Display shows the Dodge Logo automatically.

I notice it says "Modified Fit" in the attachment on the Pioneer unit.

I replaced the deck in my '04 and IIRC a double din unit would not fit with just bezel adjustments. There were units available that had a "flip up" screen, but those wouldn't work because of the dash overhang above the unit. From what I understand without major modification (more than just the bezel), only a din or 1 1/2 din unit will fit in the stock location.

I've had my OEM REC NAV radio out of the dash before, and it sure looks like it will fit to me. If you look at what's included, they give you the dash bezel that gives you a clean look. I'd sure call and confirm it. If I didn't have the REC radio already, I would look into this radio, that's is a nice setup, in an older truck.

Pioneer has a flip out screen but says it "might" interfere with the dash overhang. However, Crutchfield has pictures on line of that head installed in a RAM and although it is close, it works. It seems Pioneer just assumed it was too close.

Crutchfield has excellent customer service as well as detiled notes on what fits specific vehicles. If you call them and ask, they will more then likely be able to confirm the fit with any special circumstances for your specific truck.

I'm going to look into this radio (pictured) for replacing my OEM, REC radio. However, I want to make sure I can use the OEM GPS connection. We bought a 2014 Toyota RAV4 with the OEM upgraded NAV/apps radio and I love it.

There are some good quality single din units with a flip up screen if a double din does not fit, and there is also some really crappy ones. Whether you buy single or double dkn, Check out the reviews for the blue tooth connectivity and quality and the Navigation, and you will get a decent idea of the caoabilities of the unit. They are not all created equal and blue tooth can be very hit and miss and poor reception, and navigation can be extremely slow to update as your driving. Generally speaking you have to spend some good money to get the same quality you would expect from an OEM unit.

The issue I have with factory GPS is they always seem to be really slow at recalculating (particularly if they use CD or DVD maps), they require you to be at a complete stop to control them, and map updates are infrequent and expensive. Give me a regular factory radio and a portable GPS with lifetime maps any day!

I put a double din in the 2005 in my signature. My wife wanted blue tooth for her phone, and music for our kids. I got a Sony radio we've been pretty happy with. I found the new dash bezel on ebay, there are a bunch of colors available. It is basically an ABS plastic piece wrapped in whatever you want. I chose a "carbon fiber" finish, because I thought it most closely matched the stock finish. Fit and finish was pretty good, we will see how long the wrap lasts? Overall I was happy with the piece.

I also had to buy a couple additional connectors to wire into the Chrysler adapter kit I got so the factory amp and so the radio stays on when the car shuts off (can't remember the acronym).

The only unexpected item I ran into was i had to cut away some of the internal structure with a hot knife for the new radio to fit. I was able to cut it away and keep the stock mounting locations for the radio in case I ever wanted to go back.

I did everything myself, and it was a full day's worth of work. Not sure if I would do it again, but the new radio also has DVD capabilities with remote access to rear screens, which I guess has made it worth it.

Wouldn't the OEM bezel for the REC radio be the same as what you have in the pics, therefore give it an exact match to your dash?

Granted my truck is an 07, so a double din works with no issues, I went with a pioneer radio with a back up camera input. Bought and installed the edge license plate frame camera. As far as nav goes I've always bought the car/truck with the best radio that had navigation. What I find is after a couple years I have to update the maps. I just use my phone now so much easier.

Hammer, that is where I got my bezel from, guy was very helpful, I called a couple times with questions.

Also RV, I looked into that when I started radio shopping. The cost of the replacement bezel, and the factory radio with the blue tooth, GPS, etc made me go aftermarket. The factory bezel is not exactly the same as most of the aftermarket din 2 stereos, so the fit around the radio is not a good one.

I did mine myself , its pretty simple , some fiberglass mat and resin . Did mine on one day.

I fastened the radio to the dash so I can take the trim piece off and not mess with the radio. Youll have to trim a little out of the support inside the dash but its no big deal. I also have painted the bezel black since the photo.
