Tomeygun, why doesn't your head tech just test your truck? There is a procedure for this. You won't get any parts from star till he runs the tests anyway. Or would he cheat and rattle off the same results as his last check out :D

Bob

well, he wont test it with the chips on it... And I am too lazy at this time to take them off :)

So I will wait till closer to warm weather

Tomey,

Any word on how this is going? I am ready to go back to a 12V if my truck doesn't quit ruuuummmruuummmruummmmrummming all of the time...

Well, I put in a new fuel filter and it is definitly less... But I still have not took off the chips to have the tech call STAR on it

Sorry

My truck is bone stock----for now and it has the idle lope--surge what ever at idle when it's cold. Once it warms up it is fine had it to the dealer and was that "this is normal' BS

Anyone have a STOCK TRUCK near ST. Louis, that has this rummmrummmrummrummm lope to it?

I would like to have it in for service if ok with owner

I can take my EZ off and see if mine will lope (does with it on) and you guys can have at it and also fix the oil leak and door seals and ball joints (all under the 36k warrentee of course)... BUT you have to let me drive your truck of the day... :-laf

Mine was the Red 04 48re SWB QC at dyno day in Festus...

Heck while your at it, how much for a transmission service... ???

Dave

tommygun,

Grab that DRB again and watch you MAP reading when you experience the lope and let us know what you see? We've got a working theory on how to solve or minimize this issue.

Update - Tsb Available

ok, heres the deal

I hooked up the DRBIII - and read the fuel pressure sensor on the rail,

It has a "suppose to be" field, and a actual reading

(first without EZ hooked up):

When my truck was just started, the actual sensor reading would vary from 4900 to 6700 psi at the rail, but a noticable lope was present but only by ear, it did not shake the truck... It was like the sensor kept over compensating, then under, then over, etc -- So there is a definite problem with the truck, cause that is with NO chips on the rail pressure sensor

(NOW for the readings with EZ)

now after the truck was just started, the actual sensor reading would vary from 4100 to 7500 psi at the rail, and the lope was shaking the truck as each time the sub-4500ish PSI showed on the reading,

Of course that is now proof that the EZ is modifing the fuel pressure to SOME extend at idle... I put the EZ on its lowest level now, so we will see what it does

I tested a new 2005 model and the reading was never more than 250psi from the target pressure, so some varience is there, but just not so darn much!!!

The next step is to of course show my findings to the service manager that thinks I am just being picky...

If anything comes of this in my service dept. I will update!

THIS TSB WAS RELEASED A WHILE BACK - Sorry I missed it!

It has to do with idle surging and the EFC actuator

I had the EFC actuator put on today and an Injector service done as well...

I will report finding after I run for a few days (the service guy said that I need to run my truck hard foir this tank of fuel - Does dyno'ing near KC,mo count?? :-laf :-laf -- "LOAD'ER DOWN JOHN" !!!!!

Man, I missed this thread. My truck does this, too. And the EZ isn't the only box that amplifies it. My BDDL on extreme does it.

Tomey - doesn't your service guy always tell you to run your truck really hard? :D
