airbox studs

jbcummin... . most of us have put something on the studs to protect the filter. i used rubber vacuum caps from the local parts store. i also put some foam pipe insulation on the metal A/C line that the filter will lie on, to protect the line from wear... ...

Hey Rockcrawler,

This is Charles who bought your go2guy clocking adapter. Have you figured this out yet. Hurry up so I can get one too..... :D :D

Would it be easier to go with a 8" diameter filter (Fleetguard AH 19002) which is also made of fiberglass?

I wish someone would make one that is almost enclosed so I don't have to worry about water.

Charles

BHAF mileage

budfox, it'll depend on the conditions you drive in. mine has been on for about 7K miles now. i put a sock on it when i first installed it, as a prefilter. the sock is disposable, and so far it looks fairly clean, but i'm about to change it. i'll probably change the sock each oil change or at least inspect it. so far, the filter looks very clean>

redneck sucker sock

bud, i posted the link to the pic of mine in my readers rigs album, on p 2 of this thread. i had access to some 6" orthopaedic stockinette. i just whacked off a chunk, and stretched it over the BHAF. so far, i love it. should easily triple the life of the filter, without compromising air flow. moparguy ("discovered" the filter), is getting ready to run his with a filter minder with and without the sock, to see if it makes significant restriction. i'll be very surprised if it does..... i can buy more of the stockinette if there is enough interest. it would cost me a little over a buck a linear yard. it prolly takes about 2 feet to cover the BHAF--when you stretch it to go over the filter, you lose length... .
