I just got the turbo back from Majestic turbo. Cost for competion prep and clipping the turbine wheel was $135. It took about 4 days for them to get the job done. It definitely helped in spool up time. Now the turbo spools up as quick as a HX-40. I didn,t pick up any additional #,s of boost. If any body is having problems with spool up time i would highly recommend that you get this done to your turbo. (HX-35,HX-40,H2E it doesn,t mater what turbo you have this will quicken up the spool up. )

Thanks for the tip Sportbike #ad
We still plan to rendevous in Stockton at Bell turbo to chat with local turbo guru Pias. Now it looks like this week is out.

Sounds like you must be a tad happier with the around town performance now that the lag has been improved.

SportBike -

I am interested in this procedurer for my HX40 w/16cm² housing. What do I need to tell them when I contact them? Also can you provide some contact information, such as a phone number or email, or both?

Secondly, are there any cons to having this procedure done???

Kat,

I will email you tomorrow with the phone number and contact info. They claim you will see quicker spool up and alittle more boost. They also claim the turbo will be more durable. I don,t see anything but positive affects on the turbo.

If anybody is interested in this high hp turbo package, email me at jmf1223@msn.com .

I will be starting on the next test turbo project this week.

What do you guys think the above mentioned process would do for the HX35 with the 16cm housing? Would it help eliminate some of the lag when using the 16cm housing? TIA

Sport bike,
Thanks for the info. You don't have your e-mail listed. Send me an e-mail so I can get back to you.
Also wanted to know about any lower EGT's with this turbo?
Thanks,
Mike

The company is Majestic turbo. 1000 S. Wildwood, Suite 10 Irving TX,75060 (800)297-3626

I had a competion prep, clipping of the turbine wheel. Total cost included 2nd day shipping $166. 25. They originally quoted me $200.

Terry, your '90 came with a HX35 with a 18. 5cm2 exhaust housing. You should go with the 16cm2 housing, which works best for the early first gen trucks.

I got to put 100mi on the truck today. The more i drive it the better i like the new turbo. I was wrong about spool up being the same as a HX-40. It is quicker!!!!!!!!Towing would not be a problem. Max egt is 1400. Fuel mileage was way down because i couldn,t keep my foot out of it. Picked on a new corvette just for fun. You should of seen his eyes when i came on around him at 70. I had him by 2 or 3 car lengths to 120. I would of beat him by more but he was in front of me when we left the light and i had to run him down. I would highly recommend having any turbo modified to gain this much performance.

Excellent report Sport Bike!!! #ad
Congrats on the victory over the vette. I'm sure you took great pleasure from that confrontation, as you deserve.

So the H2 is SMOKIN'!!! #ad
Sounds like your gettin' 'round town jus' fine wi' dat nu momba jomba monsta huffer eh? I'm encouraged. We'll see what our left coast turbo prof has to say tomorrow. Time to add more fuel!!! #ad

HVAC,

Thats what i have been waiting for MORE FUEL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Now i can do it with out burning it up. I didn,t think i would catch him,it kinda suprized me.

Mopar,

That the place. They have 2 locations. I used the Irving one.

Sport Bike or anyone else, can you describe what "clipping" the turbine is, and what is done to the turbo to "Competition Prep" it? Do you think it would help on an HX40 for those who aren't running enough fuel or big enough injectors to spin it up quickly?

Also, Sport Bike, are you running the stock exhaust manifold? If so, don't you think you could really reap the full benefits of an ATS manifold with your setup? Are you running 5" exhaust all the way since the turbo exit is 4. 75"?

Thanks, Vaughn

The exh flange is 4. 75" but the pipe is 4". Comp prep, they liten the wheels and balance the *** . Clipping of the wheel depends on the turbo. You are better off asking Majestic that question. As far as your HX-40 i would definitly have it done.

I am running a stock manifold that has been highly ported. I will be going to a ATS after i get done testing different turbos. Cost to much to buy a turbo and manifold for each test. The only real benefit to the ATS is durability.

I had a chance to visit Majestic Turbo on Thursday, took a H1C from a'92 to be rebuilt.
A fellow BOMBER and I went to the Waco,Tx. location, about an hour from home. This place is amazing, the building is part of an old strip mall and they have been there for 19 years. Going inside you wouldn't think they could do the work they do. No high tech equipment there, just fantastic old world craftsmanship. Kevin and Robert explained all the different ways to increase the efficiency of a turbo. How about a HX40 compressor wheel on a HX35 with clipped ehaust vanes,it can be done but really wouldn't be worth the cost went you can get a HX40 from them for under seven. Clipping involves shaving down the back of the exhaust vanes to reduce back pressure and help increace flow. The comp prep is where they are able to reduce the weight of the rotating mass thus lowering the energy needed to turn it. This = more boost at lower RPMs. As Sportbike has suggested, anyone suffering from low boost should have this done. I'm headed back in a couple of weeks to have it done to mine. By the way, turbo reuild-$285. 00 out the door and the truck runs great. It had no power and smoked like crazy with that old worn out turbo

Another thing Majestic Turbo automatically does to the HX-40's is to machine the Air intake compressor where the intake hose slips on the housing. This will make a nice smooth sealing surface for the hose & clamp. Just like the stock turbo has. #ad

If anyone is wondering what I mean, the HX-40's come with a cast intake housing surface. No provisions are made for smooth intake duct hose connection. Like in the picture below. Not machined like the OE Holset HX-35 Dodge has.
