This is an update to my post requesting information about tow-mirrors for my 01 3500. I ordered the 03 mirrors from my local dealer one day and got them the next. Their're on and except for the heated portion, work great. My brain got tired and I couldn't figure out which wire to use to get power to the heat switch. If anyone knows, please let me know.

Also, found an easy way to get that big #@$%! spring seated without taking your head off.

dw,

You can get power for the heat from any number of wires behind the door panel. If you use the power window hot wire, your assured when you turn off the truck, the mirror heat will also turn off. If you use a constant hot, you'll need to remember to trun off the heat switch to avoid burning out the heat element/draining the battery.

mirror update

Rob, sorry about that.

The spring was replaced by removing the housing that the spring sets in inside the mirror arm, out. This was done by gently prying apart the portion of the arm that the housing sets in, remove one screw and out it comes. To set the spring and clip, put the spring and metal clip back in place, place a deep set 1&3/16 socket on top of spring clip and press it down (press machine helps). It snaps right into place. Then put the housing back in place, snap the arm back together and thats it.
