Updated Fuel Filter Components

I just had my first fuel filter replacement today and opted to do the updated fuel filter assembly. Other than the benefit of filtering down to a smaller micron level, what is the benefit of this new assembly?

That is the benefit, the original 7um filtration isn't enough. Bosch states 5um minimum, and it took Dodge 5+ years to comply.
