I have a Smarty Jr. I have had my truck back to "Stock" for a long time due to too much smoke. I have been hearing that i have to try the latest tunes as they get rid of the smoke problem. So I finally updated my smarty and downloaded software #1. When finished, the radio was dead. So I downloaded again... still no radio. Disconnected batteries for 30 minutes... no radio... put stock software back... no radio.

Any ideas? The radio was on when I started the ECM download. There are no blown fuses.

I am going on a long road trip in 2 days and it will be very difficult without music.

Thanks,

Sean

I'd call Smarty and see what they have to say. Not sure how the radio would be tied into the programming unless it's the power source on the OBDII port - ergo fuse that you said is not blown (which is typically the accessory/cigarette lighter/power port fuse not radio).

Could it be that when loading the new Smarty tune the switching the key on and off several times caused a CD to get hung up in the changer. I know my Laramie 6 CD changer goes through all kinds of mechanical noises when turning the key on and off. I now try to remember to turn the unit off before I start the update process. Just a thought.

All working now.
Apparently the radio got confused. I pulled the "IOD" fuse with power on and it reset the radio. Apparently the key on off exercise with the smarty confused it.
Thanks for the help.
Sean
