I was talking to my friendly Dodge parts man today who informed me that an in tank replacement kit is available for those of us that have the infamous Carter pump. Its a little pricey. $425. but he says it eliminates the fuel pressure problem for good. Does anyone have any experience or thoughts about this kit? Thanks Frank

I had my factory pump replaced (under warrenty) by Dodge with the "in-tank setup. " Fuel pressure NOW was about 4- 6 lbs at idle & I had to often back off the throttle (under very moderate conditions) to avoid dropping below ZERO PSI. Not a good scenerio in my book.

Replaced the above with a FASS & have been very satisfied.

Do not do the intank kt, spend your money on something like the Glacierdiesel kit, it'll keep your presure up and cost less

If you don't already have the "updated pump" DONT do it. There are a number of ways to go (2 of which were named) but as long as you don't already have the in tank pump do anything but that. I had mine done under warrantee, but in my case I added the vulcan big line kit and am happy with the results (so far).

Don't do the in-tank route. I have it on my '02 and fuel pressure is dismal. Do it right, get a FASS or something like it. Keep the stock pump around as a backup plan. Once your LP is in the tank, you can't get to it on the roadside.
