I thought all Aisin’s were PTO ready, or are they simply PTO capable and must be prepped?

The LED wouldn’t be a bad idea. I do like seeing when I’m in regen with my CTS2.

The pto control is an option. It would be where aux switch 5 is. The option would work with the upfitter module. Not sure if pto can be added after the fact. The upfitter module can't be. I'd have to look at my Aisin, but I would assume they all have pto capability. You just wouldn't have integrated pto control with the features of it being integrated. None of the upfitter pto items function without the pto option. Might be as simple as a pto aux switch assembly install and some BCM changes for the sales code. Or it could be involved or impossible. I don't have or need a pto.

The AUX switches make it so easy to add switched devices to your truck! They upfitter package has the switched below the radio that go to there own fuse and relay box on the drivers side above brake booster under the hood. That way you don't have to route wires through the firewall. Hopefully you have the wire package for it. My Tradesman had the package but not the wire package. Found on Ebay and ordered. There should also by a plug under dash on the drivers side that provides an ignition and battery hot connection! Makes for adding anything inside your rig without having to find and tap in existing wires! If I ever purchase a new rig from dealer, this is one option that I would pay for without blinking. With the Alfa OBD App, you can change from a latching (on - off) to momentary, because on the Tradesman, that option can't be accessed on EVIC. Not going to give the dealer any more $ than I need too!

You definitely can access and change the auxiliary switches settings from the tradesman evic. I6ts under commercial settings. Then enter the pin. Believe it's 0000 default.

There isn't a commercial section on my EVIC. I've been through it a thousand times before I got Alfa. The dealer has to unlock that section to be seen. I had thought that also after reading the threads on forums after I had purchased my truck from my FIL. Doesn't matter much now with Alfa App, which allows me to do so much more to my rig! Thanks for bringing that up, will be playing with truck today and will look again for commercial setting since I'll be programing a FOB.

I can pulled it up on my 2018 tradesman. I can change them to always on, ignition on, latched, momentary, etc all from the evic. Factory option on my truck. Been a while since I was in the commerical settings, so I don't recall what all was in there.

This video may help.

Ezeis, I believe they changed it on the 2015 and up. Before that, you needed the dealer to unlock to see on EVIC. I wish i could access from EVIC, but no biggie since I can access through Alfa. The Cab -n- Chassis models had it available on EVIC. I know its there since the EVIC is the same on all trim levels, just need to find how to unlock without giving dealer $. Video should help OP with his questions. Great help on the forums for all!

The 2014 owners manual doesn't mention the auxiliary switches so I can see that it might not be in the EVIC.

Gotcha. As @EZeis pointed out they are called auxiliary switches, but the dealer should know other common terminology.

Do the Aux switches light up when pressed?

Mine do. I know because I've accidentally turned them on before. Wondered why the Exhaust Brake wasn't working. The light was on, right?

duh

My 2018 4500 has the upfitter switches/module/wires. I ordered the truck and did not think about getting the PTO prep. Doubt I will ever need it but it would be nice to have if I ever did. I also wish I had gotten the dual alternators, although I did opt for the largest single alternator. I still have not set up the lights I want to add to my flatbed and the air compressor and air horn setup I want to install under the flatbed. Those switches will be handy for both!

It's easy to add the 2nd alternator. The wiring is there, so you just need the hardware and to activate it. That can be done by the dealer or AlfaOBD.

Thanks. I did not know that. I will definitely look into it. Call me a dumb@ss but what is "alphaobd"? Is it something a common country boy can get? Obviously I will need the alternator that matches my original and a different belt (I saw Genos has the belts for dual alternator applications) but is there anything else I would need?

Hey Dieselnut don't beat yourself up. The alpha obd is really a neat tool. Go on you tube and put "alpha obd " in the search bar . Watch some of the videos with guys changing stuff . I did the one for pc but if I had to do over I would use Android as that's what most are using on you tube. Good luck.

Side note, does any one know if you can "add" the up fitter switches if you don't have them? I remember when I had my dash out of my 04 to do the heater doors, there was wiring in place for options I did not have (like the airbag cancel sw on single cabs)

A couple of guys over on CF have added them....but they’re no where near OE in nature in as far as wiring is concerned. About the only thing that was OE was the switch bank.

yeah, sounds like its not worth the cost or effort then.. I only ask as I was thinking about adding a second fuel tank and would need a power switch (somewhere)
