The power steering pump in my 04 is starting to growl. I searched some threads and got part numbers for the new pump. I've found the numbers changed several times and the kit no longer contains the reservoir or bracket, just the pump and pulley. Will my old reservoir and mounting bracket work with the new pump? Does the new kit come with o rings for the reservoir mounting? My local parts man isn't sure.

Go to Dodge and buy their updated one. Pump p/n 68034326AB. Reservoir p/n 68034303AB and bracket p/n 68100252AA. You need to get all 3 parts. The reservoir is different, now white , was black. It will cost you a few bucks but I think it is worth it. I have one on my 03. David

I ordered the upgraded pump, but the dealer told me I didn't need the reservoir or bracket. He told me if I needed the other parts it would be noted in the parts diagram. Now I'm really confused. Are you sure the old reservoir won't fit the new pump?

The reservoirs leak, that is why they changed them. Yours may still work. The bracket is supposed to give better support and stop issues with the pump walking around. If you are doing it probably should get all the parts.

I went to pick up the pump and pulley kit today. The guy I talked to originally went on vacation, ( lucky for him) got a new man on the counter. I asked if the reservoir and bracket were in Boston in case my old ones didn't fit. When he came back from the computer he said " you should already have them. They're highlighted in blue. That means they're required for insallation of the pump. If they weren't they would be in black" . With apologies to MWilson and Seth, sometimes I'd like to wring the parts guys neck.

When Mopar does a suppersession on an item, its like a 50/50 if you need all the items listed. I often wondered what engineering was smoking on some of the items they said were required. But on the flip side, if you don't get all the items, you may get stuck on the install. Best bet is to get all the listed items and then return what is not needed.

Well, alls well that ends well. I wasn't fond of paying almost $700 with tax for the parts but they bolted right up and the pump is quiet and seems to give a little more boost. These were all new parts but I still had core charges. Even on the reservoir and BRACKET! The guys in the parts dept commented on that when I returned the cores. Couldn't imagine why until the lead man said Magneti Marelli. My guess is it's Fiats reman side.
