I have a . 040 over 1995 non-Dodge 12 valve with a 1996 Dodge 180hp pump, injectors and a #6 plate. It has a 4" exhaust and soon will have a HX35/40 hybrid turbo.

The truck is mostly street driven with some towing. I would like to do some occasional sled pulling also. Would injector and delivery valves help without destroying the good fuel mileage or would just a #5 plate be a better choice.

The 6 plate is fine, personally though I like the 0 plate for full fuel and fine tuning the AFC to control smoke.

A set of DD3 injectors seems to fit your bill well and won't be too much fuel for your turbo to handle. They are about a 90-100 HP increase over stock.

The stock 181 delivery valves support massive HP, 800 HP has been done on them. With only a hybrid turbo I wouldn't recommend changing them because they really up EGT's and require a much larger turbo to support them. Also, bigger DV's WILL hurt fuel mileage, injectors not so much.

BTW what clutch are you planning on getting since you are sled pulling?

That was going to be my next suggestion aside from more fueling mods. If you going to sled pull, a double disk clutch is a MUST. Trust me I smoked my Centerforce on a sled pull thinking it would hold up just fine and boy, was I wrong. Others had told me but I had to see it for myself. These engines just make so much torque that a single disk will barely hold up to drag racing. I actually slipped my SBC 13" OFE really good during some back to back drag racing runs but it is still good. Double disk is in the works for me right now and I would make that priority for you before any fueling mods if you plan on sled pulling. You can have all the power you want but if it doesn't get to the ground, that sled isn't going anywhere. :)

Never saw a mileage loss with the larger DV or injectors. Your right foot is the biggest factor.

Matt is right about the EGTs and bigger DVs, though. Increase in smoke too. They do help light up a laggy turbo.

I was hoping to get by with a single disk from SBC or Zoom. I have been told you must shift slower with the dual disk but I may have to look into going to one. I know the stock clutch in it now will be destroyed.

I pulled the truck a couple of weeks ago but the track was wet and I got no traction and was 2300lbs under max weight. I only moved the sled a little over 90 feet.

The CON FE has been known to hold well under light sled pulling and only if you do it a couple times a year which sounds like what he's gonna do. Anything single disk organic is not going to hold to sled pulling, full face feramic or ceramic will hold as long as you are not making really really high HP and torque. I personally know a guy that fried an OFE with a P-pumped 24 valve sled pulling, swapped in a CON FE and it's been holding for over a year now and atleast 3 sled pulling events that I know of.
