I just bought a 97 dodge with ~170,000 miles on the clock. It has a plate and is timed. I am putting on gauges (pyro, boost, and trans), BHAF, and 4 inch exhaust. With this many miles, what is something I should maybe spend money on now so that i don't have to when/if it breaks. (exhaust manifold, injectors, etc) I obviously want more power but I would rather put some preventative maintenence into the truck first. (the truck is from Michigan if it matters) Oh and the ATS transmission only has 30,000 on it.

tjarecke,i would get your gauges on and working, see where your egts are,if and then you want more power i would say injectores and or turbo. id see where u r at once gauges r installed.

Change all fluids, transmission, oil, fuel filter, diffs, etc...

Check everything over well. Watch for front end problems. Find out what plate you have in there. Kind of scary he was running a fuel plate with no guages!!! I would really find out what plate it is as the person before you could do engine damage pretty easy with a plate slid forward.

Goodluck

If the KDP has not been done get it done, fluids in all the drive components (if not known) diffs, trans, t case, coolant.

Big thing is rotate tires and do so every 7,000 miles or so, it makes a big differance on the longevity of the tires, my last set had some tread left at 65,000 when i got my new ones.

Keep an eye on the ball joints steering ect and check the brakes all the way around.

Hope this helps

Thanks for the replies. I forgot to mention the KDP on the "will be done soon" list. These are the things I wanted to know. I would rather change some things now than have to worry about it later.
