53k is no problem at all. The Common Rail Nozzles have a multiangle step in them to increase their life. The nozzles (even honed to 90hp) will likely outlast the body of the injector. We will warrant these nozzles for 100,000 miles as long as the failure is not caused by bad fuel a pressure box, or any other misuse.

Let me know if I can help further

Great! Thanks. I will be in contact with you as soon as I pull me stock injectors.

I have my injectors drilled out on my 04. I believe the stock size WAS 1. 025, mine are now 1. 8's. Amazing power. I bought a new set off ebay and had them checked and sent away to be honed, that way my truck wasn't down at all. I just took all the injectors to a shop and they switched them out for me. REally didn't affect anything including the fuel mileage. A friend of mines are 2. 0, that might be a little too much, if thats possible. I can give the name and phone number of the shop that did them, I guess with the new style injectors they have to have a special machine for them.

04. 5's are more likely to see an increase in mileage, especially when the injector work is done with an Extrude Hone. :)

why these?

Why better mpg on the 04. 5's as opposed to others. I usually average 14mpg and wouldn't mind better mpg, and more power when I need it. As you can see in my sig I've altered a couple things and still don't think it's quick enough off of the line, even with the Edge. I am one of those people that thinks, more power, less mpg, generally. I do believe more power(in some aspects) with less foot pressure does yield better mpg, I practice it reguarly, with little result.

I never did understand the bigger injectors, I just figured, more fuel in motor, more fuel outta tank, equals more money outta pocket!

Tell me I'm wrong here and I'll be extremely happy though! Oo.

Also, with this "port and polish"? being done would Dodge ever notice, if I had a real problem turn up and they were looking for anything to nail me on?

Once you pulled your cat that was handled... ... ... ..... D/C is using emmission tampering as 1 rule.

The nozzles will start to show wear long before 50k miles. It is the part that takes the most beating. The spray holes aren't the part that wears out. It's the clearance at the top of the nozzle, and the needle guide (the box section on the needle) that wears out.

You can't measure that stuff with a boroscope. You at least need a cp-3 test stand to measure the return rates versus delivery throught the spray holes in order to gage the health of the nozzles. You can have perfectly "matched" size spray holes and it will mean nothing if the needles are sloppy, because sloppy needles will cause the pop pressures and flow rates to be all over the place, even if the spray holes are the same size. And the needles do get sloppy with miles, even if the spray holes look ok.

KERMA: You are correct that the spray holes do not wear out, but the section that does wear is the seat. Pop pressures, are not a factor on a common rail nozzle. It is opened and closed electronically.
