Upgraded Brakes For 2003 2500 4x4?

It is time to do the brakes on my 2003 again. I have 80,000 miles on the original rotors, and I am on my second set of pads. I have been pleasantly surprised with the factory brakes so far. However, I would like to upgrade to some slotted / vented rotors and some better pads this time.



I would love to get some feedback both positive and negative regarding any experiences you have had. All suggestions are welcomed. I want to do the brakes in the next few weeks.

I have install powerslot rotor on each corner, with ebc green stuff pads ,no

trouble, good brakes and not to expensive, 1500$ canadian, for all.

2nd set? I'm still on my original pads at 69 thousand. Rears might need replacing before too long.

What did you use? Rotors turned? At what mileage?

I've heard a few recommending the OEM replacements.

My 04 3500 dually pulling a very large work trailer that weighs 18-20 K most of the time went 160K before the only brake job its had... . now has 245 K miles.

Do you have damaged boots on the pistons to allow dirt in and not let the piston retract??

O. K. , let me explain my situation a bit. Like I said, at 80,000 miles I am still on my original set of rotors front and rear. I put on my second set of pads when my truck had about 40,000 miles. It was VERY premature, I'm sure I could have gone at leat anther 10,000 or more miles. However, I was doing my ball joints at 40,000 as well (Go figure???)..... So, I bought some OEM replacement pads, because I assumed it would be time (All I will say is, I owned Fords before and brakes had to be done about every 20,000 miles... They SUCK!). So, I figured since I had the front torn down, and I already had the pads I would swap them out. the rotors were fine and they are thin from the factory, so I didn't bother cutting them.



Fast forward... . My brakes are glazed bad! As fall is approaching, I want all my maintenance done now! I can't stand working on my truck in the cold and snow. I would rather be playing... LOL. Now I want to upgrade the brakes. Over the years, I have spent a lot of money on performance upgrades... . But, I never have had the pleasure of high-performance brakes. Now I think is the time.

I went with EBC green stuff pads and their dimpled/slotted rotors and i'm very happy. My truck is 03 4x4 manual and i changed my first set of pads at 75k. I've got about 10k on the new pads and rotors and things are great so far, better performance and zero noise.

I'd like to know too. There are bunches of slotted and holey rotors on Ebay and other places. I'd like to find some stainless steel rotors too as everything around here rusts fast.

I have about 86,000 miles and still on my original brakes. They'd go a few more years ok, but the stupid PA inspection here doesn't like them.

Ditto, 69. 900 on clock, replacing fronts next week with OEMs
