Just acquired an 02' 2500 4x4 Auto , raptor pump , s@b intake , superchips programmer , truck runs out good and I did all the fluids , At 215,000 miles turbo seal seems to be leaking just a bit (not just a film) , has all gauges and has 15-16 lbs of fuel pressure , rebuild the stock turbo ? or would you spend some money on it ? I.E. better turbo , rv275's just for a little more oompf , I occasionally tow a 7k toy hauler otherwise daily driver , too many miles to spend upgrade money or just maintain and drive ? Thanks

Welcome, Mike.

As far as the engine, 215K miles is just getting broke in good. As for the rest of the truck, it depends on where the truck’s lived and prior owner’s maintenance.

It's honestly a pretty clean well taken care of truck , 2 weeks on the oil change daily driven so far and it is still clear , really not bad at all , I'll try to get a pic up.

Only pic at the moment. , And thanks for the welcome I appreciate it.

That truck is very familiar but I can’t think of who owned it. Who did you buy it from? I’m in Springfield, TN.

Nice looking truck for sure...!

And as already stated, thats not very high mileage for these trucks. Moderate for the truck but not necessarily for the engine as long as it was taken care of. These engines are good for almost unlimited miles under normal conditions, whereas the truck will start to get loose.

The component you want to take a look at is the auto transmission as they're the most prone to issues over time.

I have a soft spot for the Garrett ball bearing turbos if you can find one. Otherwise Turbo Resource in Lake Havasu can rebuild and improve the OEM turbo.

I'll dig out the paperwork , bunch of receipts I believe I seen one for some trans work , don't want to spend a ton of money on the turbo but would like to spend money to the good , just a touch over stock , runs really good now but a small bump would be nice since I have to do something to the turbo.

With that mileage (and it really isn't much) and just acquiring the truck with the mods PO did I'd have to guess the trans has been improved somehow. That said, it is a well known fact that with the TQ the engine puts out the auto trans (stock clutch in a std trans) is the weak link, even in stock trim. Once you start throwing power at it those weak links get weaker. IMHO I'd take a hard look at the condition of the trans to ensure whatever PO did will accommodate whatever your future power improvements might be. Nice looking truck.

My truck only has the EZ and RV275 combo and I love it. Runs smooth, almost no smoke, good mileage, and tows like a freight train. Not sure why anyone would need a four ton truck to be any faster...

3rd the RV275's. Had same combo on my '01 as well. Beautiful running setup, for not that much money.
