You will really like the 06. The extra fuel filtration is essentially a must, stories like Harvey's are rarer than the alternative. OEM is 7um, but Bosch reccommends a min a 5um absolute for their HPCR system used in the Dodge. The non-Dodge HPCR 5. 9's use a 5um filter. . 7um was a DODGE choice, not Cummins/Bosch.

The MK2+ kit from GDP is an excellent choice, and with that FF5320 gives you 5um at 98. 7% and 2um at 92%. I run that kit with a Cat 1R-0750, 4um, and will be going to a Donaldson P551313 at my next change (better than 3um).

The only real issues with 06, specific to 06, are faulty instrument clusters (specifically the tach), coolant hose behind the turbo leaks, the starter wire can ground out and take the TIPM with it.

Otherwise the 06 are a great truck, 48RE is approved for an exhaust brake in MY06.

The emissions are much harder to remove on the 06 than the 6. 7 thou. A full emissions delete would involve a tuner, turbo, pistons, cam, and cat removal. Most just add a tuner like the Smarty Jr to correct the emissions based timing, its good for much better drive-ability and some improved mileage as well. The SW1 is timing only, stock fueling, and does an amazing job and is compatible with a stock trans and a normal right foot.

The 04. 5-07's are the hardest on oil of any 5. 9, so I suggest a bypass to every owner.
