Here I am

UPS just dropped off 105 lbs of clutch yesterday :)

Thanks, TDR Staff

Anyone ceramic coat there exhaust housing?

What clutch to buy ?

Got my new SBC DD clutch in the mail yesterday! :D:D:D:D Just wanted to share my excitement with fellow TDR'ers - now I need to figure out a day when I can be without the truck so I can get it installed!

Thanks, SBC!

Chris

12 button ferramic, 4200 lb plate load :). This sucker better not slip LOL!

0013, I actually bought a used dual disc clutch and then had Peter rebuild it for me as the model I wanted...

Chris

Enjoy your new clutch..... don't you just love the big brown truck?? I do, him and the Fed Ex guy are my two best friends, just love it when they bring me my new parts and pieces.

LOL. I think they're getting to know my place pretty well - I've gotten oil filters, fuel filters, exhaust, injectors, and clutch all in the last two weeks :). Unfortunately, there's always a bill attached to each package, too, though! :)

Chris

From my understanding w/ Peter the 4200 lbs pressure plate is not streetable. Are you planning on driving it on the street? I am on my second rebuild and have the 3850 lbs clutch. When you get it in I would like to know how it really is on the street.

Yeah Rick,

The 3850lb is barely streetable IMO.

Probably the most I will ever go for the street.

Stoplight traffic is a bear.

Somebody said the other day your not supposed to hold the pedal in at the stoplight dummy! :p :-laf :-{} Oo.

Got Smoked,

I guess it won't be an issue since there is only one stoplight in your town (and it blinks!).

I heard you bought an extra wide clutch pedal so you can get both feet on it!

:-laf :-laf :-laf

Well, I'm not expecting great road manners from it, but I think it will be tolerable. The 3850 doesn't feel all that bad to me, and I never hold the clutch in at redlights anyway... I'll give you an update when I get it installed, though...

cute beanpole, real cute... ... . I'll tend to you later! :p  :-laf

The clutch is finally in! So far, it's not bad at all. Pedal effort on this late model Iron Giant doesn't seem any stiffer than the 3850 I felt awhile back. We put the short-shift kit in at the same time, and it REALLY shortened the throws - more than I had thought it would.

Anybody who needs a clutch or an install, J. R. Adkins is the man!

Glad to hear the update. Sounds like it is streetable. Peter made it sound as if it couldn't be driven on the street. I think the boundaries of "streetable" are different for everyone. Sounds like my next clutch will be the 4200 lbs clutch as soon as I blow out my 3850.

Yeah, the boundaries are definitely different for different people. Before I got the truck, I daily drove a Jeep on big Swampers with a spool in the rear and didn't mind too much, though... :)
