I'm still making my chioce for an ex brake on my "still in shipment 05 6 sp"

US Gear makes a heavy duty brake w/ a wastegate to retard better at lower rpm's , instead of bypass holes to let enough exhaust through as not to stall the engine as on other brands. I would rather hear from the membership that drives with these things , than to take a companies claims before spending.

I'm not triing to start a brand war ,I just want to choose the best brake avalible.

thanks

I received info from banks on their brake. They show pics of their brake vs. Pac brake and BD brake. Banks appears to have a superior design. Much bigger in comparison. I still can't afford one yet so I don't have any experience to back it up, but if I had to choose one now, I would choose banks.

The benefit the Banks touts also exists in the US Gear design- for both brakes types. That said, the theory sounds good but the Dyno shows no loss as Banks would have you believe.

I've had the std duty us gear on my 01 and 03. Somehow the unit on my 03 did not seem to have the same braking power as the unit on my 01.

I sold the std duty from my 03 and replaced it with the superduty- it's awesome and makes decent braking power at all rpms, the unique wastegate design makes it much more effective and useful without having to buzz the motor to get any use out of it. It often works too good and I upshift a gear going down some local hills.

I am a dealer and can hook you up- my experience is no bull though. My race trailer is 8-9000 lbs and I tow over 25k a yr going to western competitions through the mountains. my service brakes still have lots of life with 57k on them (just rotated my tires. )

I would suggest you consider the following... .

1 - you look for a manufacturer that builds and engineers their brake in house... . one who doesn't farm out any of the process... .

2 - someone that builds both exhaust brakes and engine brakes for more than one brand of engines... Cat, Cummins, Detroit, Mack, etc... .

3 - a manufacturer that has a dealer group thats been doing it for longer than dodge has been using the cummins engine... .

4 - check out their web sights.....

Using these guidelines you'll find that most of the people that fit the above are professionals who can give you exceptional value for your dollar... .

This is how I look for any item for my trucks... .
