I picked up a used US Gear Super Duty brake from the classifieds. It was one of the original brake systems they had, three light control box, wireless remote on/off. I have had my fair share of problems with it, and they were ALL self inflicted.
I had a relay weld itself closed (e-brake would not release). I thought that the solenoid was bad. Called US-Gear and laughed when they told me the price. Not a solenoid on the planet that is worth $350. Laughed again when they recommended the new updated control box for $135. Did my trouble shooting the next day, narrowed it down to the relay and bang, problem solved.
When and if the control box ever eats itself, I plan on making my own to replace it. It is such a simple thing in it's concept. 1 second delay to fire both the relays, and a 1 second timer on the close coil.
Performance of the unit has been fantastic in the city, during warmups, and driving in the mountains of Colorado. Real good braking power down to 1200 RPM in any gear.
