I'm considering installing a us gear overdrive, www.usgear.com and I was wondering if anyone has installed one, and if so, how do you like it. According to the website its good up to GVCW of 35000 lbs, torque 2000 lbs, and can be used with a exhaust brake. Since its installed between the transmission and transfer case (my truck is 4wd) it can also be used in 4wd, (unlike the gearvendors which cannot be used with a exh brake or 4wd. ) I have a 2007 2500 4wd with 6speed.

I had a 98 4WD with the US Gear which I drove for 6 years and loved it. I was able to use the Exhaust brake and used it in low range 4wd with the front axles disengaged to back up my fiver up hill. Loved it. Only problem the in line fuse holder wire came out. The default is low range. I called US Gear and they solved the problem in a few minutes.

I was towing around 27,500 lbs combined. I would buy one again if I needed one.

The Gear Vendor can be installed with an exhaust brake and 4 wheel drive, it disengages when the exhaust brake comes on or you go into 4x4. I have a Gear Vendor on my 06 3500,

4x4 with an exhaust brake and it works like a champ.

My question is, have those of you that have/had one gotten your $$$ out of it yet? Meaning for what you had to pay for it (2200-2600) how long in fuel savings did it take you to make the money back? I have wanted one of these for several years and just can't bring myself to spend the dough when by my figures it would take me several years to pay it off (going by my driving habits and mileages approx 8k-10k per year).

US Gear

:) I have a US Gear overdrive in a Powerstroke dually and another advantage is less wear, tear, heat on the trans. I run the truck auto direct (OD locked out)with the US Gear OD on when pulling -- no slipping through the converter. Less heat is always better on an auto trans. 165,000 miles so far and not one trans problem. Also bullet proof design on the OD unit.

I will probably get one for my Dodge Ram 3500 later if money allows.

I recently talked with a factory rep. at US Gear, he said they don't make or have plans to make a unit for the G-56 trans.

Gear Vendors is it, for our trucks, from what I can find.
