As to the quality, time will tell on the 04. I will say the paint on the 96 had less chips in 8 years than the 04 has in 8 months! Mexican worker has more pride than an American worker? WOW are we in trouble. Doc

The assembly process is so automated I don't think it matters where they're built. The important factor is engineering and quality of the material and components from Cummins, New Venture, and AM and the rest. When you stop and think about it DC only builds the body, the rest is from various third parties, and who knows where this stuff is built. Probably China since most things we buy in this country seem to be.

My 98 QC was assembled in Mexico and after 340K, incl 8 miles of dirt everyday, I might have to adjust the passenger door this spring,if the snow ever melts!!

MY 03 was made in Mexico. I now have 56K on it and have had no major problems. I love my truck.

My '98. 4 was built at the St. Louis plant and my '05 in Mexico, both excellent fit & finish.

My 05 was made in Mexico. Thought long and hard before replacing US made Ford F250. I was sure I didn't want another Ford. Chevy used to be made in Canada, think they still are. Not sure how much worker pride contributes to overall quality any more. I've read that new plants are so automated that even though a person is "using" a screw driver a computer knows if the right number of screws were installed in the right place and at the correct torque. Wouldn't it be nice if Chrysler passed at least some of the savings from paying Mexican wages? It seems to get more and more difficult to buy products produced in the United States even when I want to.

Mine was St Louis so I won't be buying another one unless the move back production to the USA as some here have said they were going to. I'd rather stand by my St. Louis truck dead on the side of the road than be driving one from Mexico. How will we pay for the infrasture of the conunty or the defense when there are no jobs here?

I strongly disagree. My 99 1500 was made in Mexico. Best truck I had owned up to that point. Just not enough power :{ Bought an 01 2500 used - my first Cummins - MADE IN ST. LOUIS - and that truck had problems that I never did get fixed. Local factory rep not only no help, but he seems to think he does pretty good standup comedy - never have rotten produce available when you need it . My 04. 5 was built in Mexico, knew it would be when I ordered it, and would have insisted on it otherwise. So far, this truck is doing pretty well so far, other than a problem with the air system I have not gotten to the bottom of yet.
