Ok Gang, I'm a new member that has been lurking for a while and got a few questions for the panel,,With the current mods to my ride and is ability to run with power from 1400 to 2800 rpm and pull some nice boost(pump work and timing done by a friend who works for local Bosch dealer)tell me the advantage of the HX40 setup over the HX35 with a 16cm exhaust housing,,Seems that everybody likes to twist their rides into the rpm stratosphere also and with valve float a problem, why the rpm spring kit,,Are there any injectors that will help over my stock 215 hp ones(see lots around but which are the best buy),,My truck is street driven daily and a weekend Powerpuke and Duracrap destroyer so efficent power is needed without these outrageous rpm's,,Now I have never dyno'd this truck and am waiting for somewhere close to do it so I can see where I stand,,More hp is WANTED ,but,I feel that it could be obtained in the powerband without spinning it into orbit,,Any ideas from the Towers of Power???

Hammer, Looking at your signature, you would definetly benefit by adding a set of 370's. With the #10 plate your clutch is going to have to be upgraded though. I still need to upgrade to the 16cm2 housing on my 3500 but if I drive reasonable, I still maintain about 16. 5-17. 5 mpg. I can pull my loaded gooseneck up hill and maintain my speeds pretty much. Running about 70 loaded, I never dropped below 11 and usually average around 13-14 loaded.

Hammer the 370 HP injectors will give you what you are looking for. My truck still has the stock governer setting and only the the #11 plate(slightly modified) right now. The injectors added power from idle to 3000 rpms. I drive my truck everyday to work it is my only form of transpo right now. The 370 injectors and 16CM2 housing and advancing the timing has given me 1 1/2 MPG or beforeon the freeway.

I am looking at a HX40 because of the reduction in EGTs it will give. The big gain here is the HX40 exits the exhaust side through a 4" hole where the HX35 is only a 3" hole. (I think the one Joe Donnelly is running has a 5" hole HX55????)

I am very happy with the addition of the 370 HP injectors, although I put them last October I wasn't able to use them until I got my clutch in just a couple of weeks ago.

My next bombing in oder will be a ported and polished head, HX40/18 & 4" exhaust to match, and then a governer sprintg kit.

Hammer:

Welcome to the TDR Website!

I agree with everything "QRTRHRS" and
"drawson" have already told you. I am
in a "similar" position to them. I have
the 370 injectors, along with all the
"neccessary" pump mods. But like "drawson"
and "QRTRHRS" said, the HX-40 is needed
to keep EGT's down and to also help you
get more power when you reach our "H. P.
point" as the HX-35 is too restrictive
above about 350 H. P. At these levels the
HX-35 is "out of it's efficiency area"
The 16cm housing on the HX-35 will help
the EGT's as "drawson" said but it still
can't "flow" the extra air like the HX-40
can. On my truck right now, I can "feel"
the restriction of the HX-35 when I hit
"top end" (full throttle) on the inter-
states! I believe it is also "limiting"
me in getting over 400 H. P. (I am at 381
right now). More Air+More Fuel=More H. P. !!

Like "drawson" I am working with Joe
Donnelly to get the HX-40 for my truck
too. And also, like "drawson" I love
the 370 Diamond B injectors!!

E-mail Joe Donnelly Hammer. He can really
explain the "technical aspects" of the
turbochargers air flow capabilities etc.
He wrote a real good article in Issue #29
of "The Register. "

I agree with the HX40. I know that the 16cm2 is only a stop gap measure but I would have to upgrade to the inline exhaust brake. My overtime (playmoney) has been cut at work so I have to hang on the sidelines for now.

Well the help is greatly appreciated,,Clutch was upgraded to the Centerforce piece, but,I am not happy with it at all,,It was a needed piece at the time(stocker flew apart)and my transmission man was told that this would do the job,,Under full throttle it has a tendency to either hook and haul or slip in 4th and 5th,,Thing only has 10,000 miles on it,,Love to go with the HX40,,Clutch will be first, this time I'll shop smarter,,I'will email Joe D and have read his article. .
