this is the same crap bob started last year and i dont appreciate it.

Auburn has already been named national champ in the Atlanta, Montgomery and Birmingham papers. Unless USC will play Auburn they arent champ!

Well, this is this year, and you started it. We're just cleaning up your mess. Like I said, Auburn can ply OU. If they win, then let them play SC. Other than that, they can cry all they want and use the Atlanta, Montgomery, and Brimingham papers for Kleenex while watching channel 9. Too bad the rest of the nation isn't as disillusioned as Auburn. They actuallly think they're good. As it stands right now, I would make them play Texas, Utah, Boise St. and Louisville before even playing Oklahoma to see if they could play SC.

The title of this thread should have been "Oklahoma ain't got no right to be in the champ game" cuz they just flat out sucked. Felt the sucking all the way out here in CandyLand.....

True, but i had no AMMO on the big 12. Look they got history. Those boys were tough as nails for years. How was I to know they were posers now. Cali is always an easy target with the weed smoking gay marrying lets talk about how we feel Political Correctness. I had to tee of on USC, in fact somewhere deep inside me i MIGHT have been pulling for USC.

To be more vague and confusing let me say... ... ... ... ... ..... Nope I aint gona say it... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... . I am gona wait for Bob Wagner to start the same crap next year that he did this year and I am going to post it then.

Ouch! I don,t think Oklahoma is going to be OK for a will after that spanken they got  . I haven,t been keeping up with all the college teams and how they did this year. I like college ball beter than Pro ball there are so many teams all over the country that are good you never Know who the real champ is :) I am happy with my team Alabama they did,nt win alot this year but they put up a good fight with each team they played . I think they are going to do beter next year :D Bkenny

One other thing USC proved, in my mind, they were #1 last year as well... . not a split Championship with LSU. LSU beat OK last year 21-14 in the BCS championship game. USC would have spanked either of those teams!

I dont know what planet you been living on but USC didnt hoist that trophy last year. If they had faced a SEC oponent then they would not have hoisted it this year. Usc wasnt national champ lasy year LSU was so get the wax out of your ears and Bong and get it straight

Are you still saying Auburn is a good team? Please. If they played, after last night's performance, USC would be at least double digit favorites. Probably greater than the 14. 5 Louisville was favored over Boise St.

What planet? Earth... on Earth, USC did hoist a trophy last year... USC was national Champion in the AP, (sports writers poll). LSU was voted as national Champs in the Coaches poll, because the coaches had a contract that they had to vote for LSU, they didn't have a choice!

Now here is the picture of USC hoisting that trophy from last year 03'! BTW: it is a trophy and not a bong!

Did you ever notice that people attempting to support a flimsy case tend to complicate what is simple in order to obfuscate logic?

But enough about LeBatard, who, based on his argument, apparently had dinner last night with Auburn coach Tommy Tuberville, who I presume was kind enough to pick up the check.

Let's keep this simple.

A legitimate split-national championship in college football occurs when the BCS and The Associated Press have different No. 1-ranked teams and both win their bowls.

Bulletin for Dan: That was not the case this season.

LOOK TO THE POLLS

Unbeaten Southern Cal was top-ranked in both deciding polls (along with the coaches' poll). Further, the Trojans were No. 1 ahead of Auburn by a considerable margin. There wasn't much debate . . . outside of Auburn.

Auburn was as unbeaten as USC and did all it could, yes. You can feel badly for the Tigers if you like. You can feel badly for unbeaten Utah, too. But not losing does not bestow upon you an inalienable right to claim a national title. Sorry.

If Auburn has such a legitimate claim to that, why did Southern Cal lead in final AP first-place votes, 62-3? (Who even knew there were three voters from central-Eastern Alabama?)

Hey, wasn't 62-3 also the Orange Bowl Classic final score? No, wait. That's right. USC only swamped Oklahoma by 55-19.

SUGAR TOO CLOSE

That was one day after Auburn, hell-bent to run up the score and make its big case, managed to edge Virginia Tech, 16-13, in the Sugar. (By the way: USC had beaten Tech by 11 points this season, if memory serves).

As for Auburn supposedly having played a tougher schedule than Southern Cal, I say we make a new rule: When you open your season against Louisiana-Monroe, you shut up about your tough schedule.

Hey, don't get me wrong here. Auburn had a terrific season, second-best in the whole country. Be proud, Tigers. But enough with the whining.

Southern Cal -- No. 1 wire-to-wire, and punctuated with an overwhelmingly impressive title-game performance -- stands alone, and should. Rarely has college football crowned a champion so clear-cut, and so deserving of bipartisan praise.

END QUOTE

Couldn't have said it better myself, except I'd have thrown Utah in there somewhere.

The only reason we don't have a playoff system in college football is because of the bowl games. There is waayy too much money in selling the bowls, and too many free handouts to sports writers and coaches to have people get serious about crimping off the teat. That is why every year we have another idiotic sponsor tie-in "Welcome to the 2005 Stayfree Maxipad Flow Bowl"

The coaches protest they can't play the extra games to deal with a playoff - baloney! Here in Texas our high schools go through a full playoff in the fall season, finishing up in plenty of time for Christmas, and the coaches and players handle the stress of competition just fine. This season for example Southlake Carroll played 16 games plus scrimmages and came out with a 16-0 record.

The pros manage to handle a playoff system OK. They play quite a few games and manage to cover the bases, in fact in older days they played a LOT of games every season. Look back at the old Green Bay teams of the 1950's, or the AFL teams before the merger, and check out how many exhibition games they played.

What is truly funny, is watching people tie themselves in knots trying to explain why we SHOULDN'T have a college football playoff system :-laf :-laf
