I am wondering if anyone out there has ever heard of putting auto trans fluid in winter blend diesel fuel?? The local dodge dealer repair person suggested in because the winter blend fuel is to thin. Damage to engine injectors etc. 96 dodge cummins.

Adding AT fuild to diesel is a leftover from the days when AT fuild was basicly just light oil. Modern AT fuild contains additives that are not meant to be burned and will leave ash deposits, not good for your engine. You are better off to use a diesel fuel additive that is meant for diesel fuel.

You can purchase Marvel Mystery Oil for the same price. There have been several forums on the use of Marvel. Also several on not to use transmission fluid.

Once upon a time - Long, Long ago the old farts (no offense) used to add transmission fluid as a lublicant but todays oils (auto transmission fluids) are designed to NOT Burn and have chemicals that are friction modifiers sooo... ... I would not listen to the Dodge dealer repair person. It would be worth the extra $1 or so to use a real fuel additive like Standyne, Redline or even Marvel Mystery oil before using AFT.

BTW - I would be more worried about pump damage before the injectors.

There is a test called BOCLE that tests for gram loads at which scuffing begins to occur. The higher the scuffing BOCLE load the better the lubricity of the fuel. These results show lubricity improvement in fuels treated with DCI+ at one gallon per 1000 gallons of fuel to range from 19. 4% to 36. 6% over untreated fuel.

UT means untreated fuel
DCI+ means fuel treated with LE DCI+

Flying J (Texas)UT=3800, DCI+=4700
Exxon (Texas) UT=3000, DCI+=4100
Phillips (E. St. Louis) UT=3500, DCI+=4600
Flying J (Missouri) UT=3300, DCI+=4400
Petro (Texas) UT=3600, DCI+=4300

These results show how the DCI+ diesel fuel conditioner improves the fuel for better lubricity and longer pump life.

I wish I had more info on other oils but not at this time.

Mag-Hytec advertizes on this sight and sells the DCI+ fuel conditioner for $7. 00 per pint and it treats 125 gallons of fuel. His phone number is 1-818-786-8325.

There are no harmfull additives in the DCI+ fuel conditioner as ther will be with ATF.

Sincerely, Kevin
