a friend of mine who's father has passed is looking to sell some of his guns. where can i find some book values for them?

she has no idea what they are worth and i just don't want her to get taken when she goes somewhere to try and sell them.

She needs to buy Fjestads (sp?) Blue Book of Gun Values. It will tell her all she needs to know. She can also check te auctions online to see what items are selling for. Best yet? Just pass them on to the next generation.

Yes, S. P. Fajstad's book. Get the newest which would be the 23ed edition. It will set him back anywhere from $28. 00 to $35. 00.

If you go to a dealer, you might not get full value. They would give you the price on what THEY would buy them for.

Also, prices may be slightly more or less than in the book due to collect-ability, and regional demand.

When I want to know a gun value I look the gun up on AuctionArms.com. That well tell what people are actually willing to pay for the gun. Keep in mind after they pay the bid price they have to add shipping and FFL dealer transfer. Pick you gun and do a search, most likely it will be there. Good luck!

Agreed. I'd say keep and if she doesn't want them pass them to the grandkids, or others in the family.

you are right about passing them to the next gen. but she has no next gen. and needs the $$$.

i'm finding the makes and models in the links you gave but the price ranges from $400 to $57,000.

do any of you have the fajstad's book that you could look up a couple guns for me?

Blue Book

Have the 19th edition, PM the models and I will send you the information. Keep in mind that for many of the more popular models there are often numerous editions and calibers that will affect the price. Also conditon will affect the price more than anything and some rare pieces are worth a fortune even in poor condition.

A site I have used a couple of times to help identify and value older guns is:

www.gabelguns.com

I recently used it to identify an old shotgun that my girlfriend picked up at a yard sale. Turns out that her $5. 00 purchase is worth $200. 00 to $300. 00. Not a bad return on your money!
