2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission Used truck advise.

Any help on buying a used Diesel Ram 2500 would be great. For example: I would like to buy a truck in Southern California, are there any Buyers guides, books etc that could help me?

Don't know if it is still being printed, but when I joined the TDR, they sent a "Buyers Guide" in the intro package they sent me.

Welcome to the TDR Ron! I bought my '95 2500 out of the local "truck trader"--or some such bi-weekly mag with pictures of trucks for sale. I got it out of Palmdale from a nice old guy who bought a Diesel pusher RV and didn't need the Dodge anymore. I ended up with a good, used, bombed, 2500 with 57,000 miles on the odom and about $5,000 worth of upgrades. Paid a good price for it. I've owned it 4 years and put 90,000 miles on it with NO problems!



I have always had good luck buying used cars. I inspect everything I can, and then sit in the vehicle etc. So far I have always gotten good cars & trucks.



There are a number of things to inspect on these trucks. Keep reading the forums to find out what.



Also it is good to run a Car Fax on any truck you find. But mostly I go by whether or not the owner is an honest person and the truck looks good and un-abused.

Hey Welcome to TDR. .



Ive been searching for 6 months for my truck, finally found the perfect one on ebay. A white 96 2500 160k miles but only 9k and fully loaded. Also bone stock. Its not always good to get a bombed truck becuase most of the time they are ran hard... Also, look on ebay and out of state. . Do not get a california truck. It has EGR valve. Once you remove it, your breaking the law and you can be fined when CARB look up the vin at a checkpoint. Plus, who wants to say their car has a california emission package. . :{ Yuk! Thats why i found mine in oregon
