What have other non smokers come up with for uses of the ashtray space? Guages, switches brake controller.

I'm talking about the one under the dash.

Any pics of anything "too cool".

I have a gauge holder that is being made out of Carbon Fiber to hold (2) 2" gauges (fuel and transmission temp). My brother who works with carbon fiber is currently makeing the mold and it should be done in a little while. Once he gets mine done I am planning on him makeing more and I will sell them. Let me know if you are interested.

I sure would like to see it when its done :) Not a carbon fiber fan, but might be if this looks good.

installed a galaxy frequency counter where my ash tray used to be. made a plastic insert to fill in the space around the frequency counter to make it appear "stock"

also, put my connex 3300 HP (rebel face plate) where my cup launcher was.

The ashtray makes a good hidden spot for a comp.

Thats where my Edge comp is. I just flip open the ash tray and turn up the smoke... :D

I'd be interested in the gauge holder also.

Nice work. Your the one that got me thinking about what to do with my ashtray. But mines nunder the dash, to the right of the steering wheel.

Mine houses about $30. 00 in change. Kinda funny the look on the various cashiers when I walk up to the register with my ashtray. Usually they roll their eyes. Of course the other customers in line are doing anything from scowling to outright squawking. :p :)

:--) I want to see a picture of that setup!!

BBD - are my eyes lying to me or did you find something to replace the blank square next to the fog light switch? I can't tell if thats the factory o/d switch or not?

Thanks,

-Vic

Its a mini toggle swith I picked up at Radio Shack looks really good but hard to tell from this pic. I just drilled a small hole through the stock square piece and inserted the switch I will try to get a better pic when I get my camera back.

Frequency counter for WHAT?

I've heard that Ham radio operators "do it with frequency", but keeping COUNT is sorta new... . ;) :D

The drag comp and switch for the extra fog lights sit in mine, and I am a smoker, guess in more ways than one. Just hate to use the ash tray for butts... ... ... .....

I mounted the Jordan Ultima brake controller there. Perfect fit. I machined some mounting blocks mounted them in the ashtray hole one block for the contoller and one to mount the cover plate which I fabbed out of 1/16" aluminum shaped to match the contour of the dash. I like the way it came out except the vinyl that I covered it with does not match very well. It is a very convenient place for the controller easy to see and very easy to reach. I think there is still room for a galaxy frequency counter under the brake controller...
