I have to replace my clutch and have been battling my choices for the past week now. I have looked in to SB, Valair, Luk, Sachs, Zoom and even the house brand auto parts store clutch kits. I would love to get a SB or Valair but I am at the end of my truck build project and really need to watch my finances. Therefore I have been looking into the Luk cerametallic clutch or the Pro Gold. I would also like to mention that my engine is stock but I will be making upgrades to the performance of it as time goes on. Truck will be primarily used for daily driving, pulling a pontoon or wake board boat, and occasionally kicking in the 4x4 for some camping and/or fun. So now for the question... ...

1. Has anyone used the either of these clutch in a stock 1st gen to slightly modified 1st gen engine (300 - 400 hp)?

2. Does any one know if either will bolt up to the OE Sachs 13" fly wheel.

Thanks in advance for any response.

I have no idea about any differences between 24 valve and 12 valve applications but the OEM clutch in my '01 HO six speed was a Luk and I replaced it with a Luk. It provided great service. My engine was stock except for RV275 injectors.

How many miles are on your original? Are you hard on clutches? If you're not, the original Sachs works fine. Sometimes there is nothing wrong with just replacing the disk, especially if you do your own work. I have 312k on my '91, still original. At about 280k I just knew it had to be bad so I pulled it. It was fine so I reinstalled with a new throwout brg. This is with 263/708 power levels. O'Riley's is a Sachs stocking dealer.
