oKAY I did IT

Unscientific of course. Going down a hill today at 1200 RPM and experiencincing slight engine braking ... i decided to cut the key off... . result: no change in engine braking. Scientific? NOPE! I did it 4 or 5 times and I would be willing to bet that the VP doesnt give any fuel in gear. NOW THE IMPORTANT stuff. How does this info help us? How does this info let us get better Mileage?? I can see myself but I think the truth is all of you. Think about it before you post.

I could not understand for some time why my throtle cable would not deliver 4 to 5 MPG better over a cruise control, like it did on my gas burners and that is why. ZERO fuel while in gear is a cool thing, its not coasting mind you but its still cool.

The other side of the coin would be if I was going 70 and had the choice of either dropping in neutral or leaving it in gear with the increased braking; where would I reach the point of doing better in gear Vs neutral?

NO _I_ did it!

I drove like a granny for a whole 100 miles with the box on 1x3 and then topped it off---22. 3 MPG!

Holy Cow!

It seemed like the longest 100 mile of my life. But it can be done.
