I ordered the Van Aken Powere Module a couple of monthas ago. It came in just prior to a trip we were taking from Seattle to Utah and return. The device I am told is a combination timing and pulse duration and connects to the ECM cable. Installation is straight forward. Remove the existing ECM plug and install the VA box in line and then run the 3 position switch to a location of your choice to the cab. After installation I immediately started the truck up. It sounded like a tin Lizzie and it was obvious something was wrong, so I remove the device and call the supplier that happened to be Jannety racing to get a return code. They put Ted on the ph. and he told me if I was willing we could correct the wiring mixup over the phone. I gathered up a few tools. screwdriver, needle nose pliers and proceeded to switch the 4 wires that were incorrectly installed and then reinstalled the box. Everything perfect. Since we were leaving in a few days I really did not have a chance to do more than drive aroud the block a few times. I have a 3500 dually 6 speed HO w/3. 73 rear and in stock condition except for gauges. Installed on the truck is a 11. 5 ft. Artic Fox w/slideout that weighs 4 grand or more.

In over 2000 miles of driving on the flat and through the mountains the EGT's did not exceed about 1300 degrees which is the same as w/o the box. Again max. boost was about 24psig which is identical to what I see w/o the box. While the max. egt did not go higher than stock it seems that the EGT runs about 50-100 degrees higher w/ normal driving. Normal driving on the straight EGT'S were running about 800 degrees. This is with the RPM at about 2 grand and the speed about 68 mph which is a really good cruising speed for my set up. A number of people have asked about mileage. I took the same trip last year except in addition to the camper load I was towing a car on a trailer. I got 10. 5 mpg. On this trip I averaged for the 2000mi. almost exactly 11. 0 mpg. With regard to power the VA does not set you back in your seat like the Edge Ez did on my 2001. The power boost is very subtle but it definetly helps to alleviate downshifting in the mountains and make the truck a little more responsive. With me the jury is still out on the device. It would be interesting to have some dyno results but from my observation it provides less power (seat of the pants) than the Dr. Performance Predator that I tested. One thing I do not like is the chincy in cab switch. It is 3 position, off, mid level and full up. The switch does not show the level you are on. I really could not tell if there was a slight increase in mpg or not. Certainly I did not find it was any worse.

Did you run it on 100%?

Except for about 150 miles I ran on 100% for just under 2000 miles. I could not tell much difference between the middle setting and full up. Mileage and observations on EGT and boost are based on the 100% setting.

This is the duration box your speaking of I'm guessing. I

have the va stage 2 duration box and my truck will hit 1500+ egt's effortlessly. In stock mode towing 13000lbs up a steep grade it will only hit 1180 . I have only tried it on the 100% mode a few times for engine safety reasons . I also have a 2004. 5 600 cummins so im sure they are quite different due to the fact my truck will hit 38psi at the plenum. The power is absolutely night and day when in the off position to 50% and then to 100%. The truck is a monster to say the least with this box. I just purchased an HX40 form jannetty racing in hopes of keeping the egt's manageable.

dozerdogue,

I did not know VA made another box. In fact I asked Jannety about that before I bought this one and was told it was a timing / duration box. Is that not so? If I understand you there is a stage 2 duration box?

Max, there is a VA pressure box and a VA durration box. The pressure box is about $400 and the durration box is about $600. As far as I know, they don't have timing intergrated into their boxes yet.

Which model do you have?
