Colorado Diesel Group Purchase

Fleetguard bypass filter vs. Amsoil & Oilguard

About a year ago I bought a used VA for a '99 to put on my '02. I have been running it without the boost elbow since then because the boost fooler had the wrong plug type.

Last night I installed the APB, and this thing flat out rocks! Good thing it is adjustable as I don't think my clutch is going to like it on the highest setting!

Anyway, I installed boost elbow that came with the VA since the APB has a boost fooler. I am pegging my boost gauge at 35psi at WOT. It is also sounding like there is a leak, a high pitched whine that I don't think is the turbo. I didn't look too close at the elbow when I put it in, but I think there were some holes in it. Is this to bleed off the pressure to the wastegate, and if so is that the noise I am hearing?

I thought I remember some people talking about an adjustable boost fooler here on the forums. Where can I get one of those? I would like to adjust it so max boost is around 33 or 34 psi so it will still be on the gauge.....

For the guys with the APB, where are you mounting it? I'm thinking aobut getting it under the dash, but haven't found a good spot for it.

Fuel pressure gets down to 5psi at WOT, but I can't keep it there long as it is time to shift gears (when unloaded). Smoke is heavy with the APB on high, and my foot on the stupid pedal, but it is controlable.

Thanks for the help,

Will

I drilled a hole in the steering column plastic cover on the driver's side. It makes for a very stealthy install.
