Well guys there is another scenario I might consider. What does anyone know about Gear Vendors Under/Over drives??? The main company is located about 5 miles from me and the full package would run about 3K installed and would transform my 4 speed auto to an 8 speed auto with increased horse and torque. This way everything would remain stock and full warranty remains in effect.

Shoot! I might as well weigh in. I just had a VA Box installed on my truck. Also, had a boost and EGT gauge installed along with a 4" exhaust. I just got back from a trip over the mountains to Seattle. What a kick! My truck can flat kick butt out there. Can't believe what a difference it made. 5th gear up 6% 6 mile long grade and it never wavered from 75mph. Now the reason I did all this is the same as yours. I'm pullin a 5th wheel about the same size as yours. I'll get it out on the road pretty soon and see what I get. I'm not lookin for 75mph, but I sure want to get up those hills in good time. If not, I'll go to new injectors. As far as the weight, my truck should be about the same as yours. According to my book, if your truck weighs 7300lbs (which is about what mine is) you ought to be able to pull around 11-12klbs. Probably more! A 3500 doesn't add that much. I see a lot bigger rigs then mine out there being pulled by 2500's. See ya down the road!

huh ??? adding a gear vendors will allow better use of horse and torque , but INCREASE IT ???? how ???? sorry , i just found this one a bit hard to believe .

i noticed you said the word LEASE above , do you plan to purchase it at the end of the lease ? if not you will have to pay to return it back to stock as the dealer probably won't want it with the mods of any sort , having a leased truck that you plan to turn it adds a new dimension to what you want to do ... but upgrading the trans is number 1 ...

dumb question , why did you let the dealer talk you out of the truck you wanted ? that wasn't in your best interest , only theirs ?

I have a Gear Venders in my truck, did not increase HP or Torque. It did help a bunch on towing, closes gap between gears on 5-speed.

This quote came directly from GEAR VENDORS but I think what they mean is horse and torque to the street... . You can easily have increases in horsepower in the 50+ range and torque boosts of 70lb ft. just by gear splitting. With 8 forward gears available the motor stays in a narrow rpm band of performance. The . 78 ratio of the GEAR VENDORS gives an alternative overdrive ratio to the very tall factory gear and the GEAR VENDORS can be used with virtually unlimited horsepower (if it is 1200hp or less it gets the standard product). If you have a car or hotrod truck also read the 3-speed 2 wheel drive section. If you have a truck used for towing read also the 4-speed automatic truck section.
