Thanks Blakers, I have also ordered the column pod like yours, what color are those when they arrive, I wonder if anyone makes a spray paint that will work on that plastic in a color to match the interior. It's getting harder by the day to buy stuff made in the good ol USA.

Ok, I have more info on mine. Basically, I can confirm most everything said thus far. in particular:

1. The fueling curve is pretty aggressive at the low end. enough to hit the turbo pretty hard, give you a good puff of smoke, beak tires loose, attract attention, slip the clutch. lots of fun.

2. cruising with the VA box on is rock solid. you thought the stock truck had a good cruise control. The VA box is amazing because of the fueling curve centered about 2000 rpm where it makes its peak torque.

3. this box runs hot. duration without timing means a net retardation in timing. When I do a WOT run from 50 mph in 5th gear, I have to back out at 65 mph to stay under 1300 degrees pre turbo. My truck is at a disadvantage, though, because my air is completely stock and I live at 2700 feet. But y'all need to know that the disadvantage of this box is EGTs. dems the facts.

4. stacking the VA duration box with a simple pressure box is a very good thing. set the VA to its level 1 setting . now stack with EZ, Quadzilla, Bullydog, or VA pressure box -- on a lower setting. You get a much flatter torque curve (easier on turbo, clutch, drivetrain, lower EGTs, and (approximately) just as much area under the curve, and smoother acceleration. I'm running my VA box with the Quadzilla towing module (in cab adjustable 0-50-100) on the 50HP setting and loving it. The low end fueling is great -- I get light smoke, enough to spool the turbo up nicely without hitting it too hard, and the truck pulls very nicely well past 2,000 RPM to 3000 with smoother acceleration and lower EGTs than with just the duration box.

I do very much like the responsiveness of the VA duration box. Its just that you won't be able to use all of its power without a clutch upgrade and more air. turning it down and adding a little pressure is looking very nice. smooth acceleration is easier on U joints and differentials too.

Mine came black and I used it just as it came. Matches pretty darned good and everyone thinks it's stock.

When you install yours, you'll find the wiring is pretty tight under it. It will fit, but takes some tinkering. It comes with some double sided tape to attach it. I'd recommend using a few more pieces of the tape here and there. Mine squeeked without more tape.

Good luck.

DLeno, which pressure boxes will work on the 600?????

The 600 has a happy little pressure box detector in the ECM that the 305 does not have -- see my fueling box summary for more details. Basically, the only pressure box I'm aware of that will work on tlhe 600 is the VA Smartbox level 1.

this top secret box is being tested on a 600 daily and has worked well. no codes or nuthin when bein stacked w/ various combos.

the box is siver colored and has wires.

id tell ya who make it but then id fear for my life

well muddy as soon as the information is available, I'll include in the fueling box summary. As for pressure fooling, I'm aware that approximately 50 HP is available without making the 600 ECM unhappy. that means most of the pressure boxes on lower settings will work. The VA pressure box is really no different from the others except that it is weak. From personal experience I know that the Quadzilla box on 50 HP runs circles around the VA pressure box.

So has someone figured out a way to trick the 600 ECM so that the happy pressure box detector doesn't rear its ugly head?

VA C2 box

Hello.

I'm running a va duration box on a 2003 2500/4wd/quad cab/longbead with 3. 73's and a 48RE. I have added a Quadzilla air box/green air filter, as well as post and pre EGT guages.

I've got about 250miles on the box since installation. While not a 5 minute install(the switch took about an hour just to be careful and the box was about 20minutes(under and over to get at the 4mm bolt), I have had no problems at all with it. I have not used the high setting yet, but the medium setting has noticeably more takeoff. And I have noticed a 1 to 1. 5 mpg gain on the overhead console. Still waiting to hand figure it.

EGT temps really haven't changed, but I haven't gotten on it too hard yet.

Just not fair

muddymess,

Sure, bring your toys into the sandbox and don't let anyone else play. :( :{

Let us know when you can.

muddymess,

If my math is right it looks like you were able to pull another 121 hp and 220 ft/lbs torque without setting a code. VERY NICE!

I'm running with the same as J Fulford only I have not got around to installing the switch yet. Hand figured mpg has gone up about 1. 5. Carefull watch on the gauges at less than 30 psi and not over 1250 f. No codes either, guess I'll have to go with an AFE and torque tube to keep egts in check a little more.

Holy Cow, you guys weren't kiddiing when you said the egt's climb quick with this box. Got my gauges in last night and they climb just as everyone described above. I'm running straight exhaust cept for a full flow glass pack, 4 inch all the way, with an airaide filter, I wonder how much an afe system would help?????????

duration without timing retards timing, and late fuel charges increase EGTs!

mild pressure works on the 600. about to the 50 HP level. I have yet to hear anyone succesfully and reliably doing significantly more than that, or anyone succesful in fooling the pressure box detector logic.

of course, one shouldn't add more than abou 50HP with pressure anyway, in my most humble opinion of course...

I wonder how much temp drop could be expected with the AFE setup, may try this. It will be interesting to see what Eengel finds out stacking the two different VA's together regarding EGT's. I guess the best solution would be that VA would get the timing thing figured out so we could have all this power and be able to run pedal to the metal and not have to worry about EGT's at all. Maybe a larger turbo would help, not even sure that would be the solution.

VA STACKED

Well unless the UPS guy moves his a** and gets here today, I am going to have to wait until Tuesday to add the level I. I have a fishing trip this weekend (Fri-Tues). Then I leave town for work untill Friday.

I may be short on the posts about this for a little while.

I am also contacting Danny about programming a level I VA to expand the useable RPM range.

I would like it to go upto 2850 or so.

What do you think of that Doug?

Fishing Trip

I called my fishing buddy and he said the launch is pretty crappy. He said there is a good chance it could rip my cat off if I'm not careful.

That would be a drunken shame...
