VA Duration Box

Hey Guys,



I have a question... . Diesel Performance said they have shipped out over 100 of the new VA duration boxes. Where are these buyers? I have yet to hear any reports on the results.

VA Box

They offer 2 boxes. A pressure/timing box (65hp) and a duration only box (130hp on 305 engine).



The new duration only box is the one I am curious about.

I put one of the new Van Aaken duration modules on my 04. 5 last night. So far it works great, no egt issues at all... ... ... . course it already has twin turbo's installed

How hard is it to install the new va duration box?About how much does it cost? What is the hp and torque of the box? Is there any need to upgrade the fuel system with this box? Any info would be great Rhino50

I have a friend waiting on his to come in the mail. He'll be putting it on an '03 4x4, so we'll report back here after a few miles on it.

I'm thinking about stacking my Edge EZ w/ the VA duration only box. I figure EZ on level 2 and VA on level 2 might produce some nice power throughout the whole range. Does anyone see any feasibility issues w/ this?Oo.

VA Install

The install is very easy. The box plugs into the ecm only. Then you run the switch into your cab for the power levels.



On a 305hp motor it will produce between 126-138hp. And I can't remember the torque. DLeno has all the numbers in his chart. Give it a look.



The box retails for $799 but Precision Diesel (ask for Danny, see above post for phone # & link), is selling them for $599.



They have them before other vendors because the helped in the development and testing.

Stacking

If the nice UPS man shows up tomorrow, I am meeting TWest and we are going to stack my VA with his edge on his truck.

Have looked for info on the VA level 2 on their WEB site but no info yet. With the switch in the cab, can you turn the box off and how many steps are there? No EGT probe so no defueling?????

Switch is off, 50% & 100%. No egt control, although we are working with Van Aaken to add some features like that, but that will be months down the road.

Installed mine today. What a great little box. Excellent drivability and great torque. WOT run to 95 gave me 30psi boost and 830* post turbo.

Truck seems to have a barely noticable micro stutter if you stomp it at very low rpm as the fuel map really kicks in. But I'm SUPER sensitive to any changes in drivability. Also got a code of P0606 Internal ECM Processor but no light and no problems? Should have disconnected both batteries before I removed the ECM connector. Didn't say to in the instructions but I found a reference to doing that later in the day looking through the service manual.

On any setting you would not know that this is not a stock truck, but when you stand on the loud pedal HANG ON!

Overall exceptionally happy with the purchase. Thank you Danny at Precision Diesel for hand carrying it to a UPS drop so it would go out same day! Awesome guy. Give 'em a call...

Let us know how stacking with the EZ works out. Since I'm running that now and looking at another box it would give me that much more incentive to call Danny!

The third generation trucks have injectors that fire electronically. A duration box increases the length of time (duration) that the injector is open thereby allowing more fuel to pass.

So I assume you were as plesantly surpeised as I was. It's just a VERY nice box. If your not into it, you would not know it was even there.



Watch your mpg, mine appears to have gone up 1. 2 mpg. I make the exact same trip every flip'n day, so I know it's a constant.
