Yea, Your right about the TQ numbers. I was thinking of the difference between the CA SO and the 250 HP SO. I still think that the cooling jets help on egt's

Are you sure the SO does not have cooling jets? Even the 12 valve engines had cooling jets. Why would Cummins drop them on a higher horsepower SO engine?

ALL Cummins engines have cooling jets, 1989-2004. 5.

Starting with the '03 HO, and now all Cummins engines, you get cooling jets PLUS gallery cooling.

Twest obviously a SO with a box will spank a stock HO

You missed the point,It seems the SO program EGT runs cooler than the HO program, specially when you start to bomb, Even when torque and hps are about the same, and I see the new 600/325 runs even hotter according to some members posts. The two HOs are employee"s and are leased and will be return in April 05,Or optional 1 extended. The SO I will be keeping as my personal vehicle and adding turbo and exhaust brake,New box.

This is going to really start the flaming. I have 3 03"s ,One SO two HO"S. Here"s the deal the trucks are spec the same except the SO is DEC 02 the HO"s are APRIL 03. The EZ on the SO on level six will spank the stock HO every time,The SO has a ATS trans now,The HO"S 48re stock ,EGT"s about the same,Now put the same EZ"S on level six in both trucks the HO is a little faster Not much ,and pulls a little stronger, EGT"S are 200* to 275* hotter than the SO.

Did not mean to stir a pot, but this is what i was curious about, and this answers that... . I think. :D

My 600 could run 1350 bone stock! with intake and 4 inch exh. no cat, high 1100 range with alot slower rise, with TST runs cooler due to timing until about level 4/4 then she starts to get a little warm 1400+ on a long 100 mph pull. when testing an Edge EZ on the same truck level 4 could hit over 1400 as well with all air mods and truck didnt pull as hard. TST boost # is about 38 pound spike leveling off to 34-35 with modified elbow, EZ about 40-41 lbs due to boost fooling and no signal sent to elec. wastegate actuator causing it not to open. TST was worse and had to put in elbow. The 600's are running hotter to keep the cat hot so it works, they have a slightly bigger compressor housing that I think when modding helps a little.

600 Temp

Matty,

I agree, I am able to hit 1,350 with the VA off. The 600 really heats up quick.

Also, after I sit and park it for 4-5 minutes it drops to about 275. 1-2 minutes and it's under 350. Alsmost right away it back under 400.
