REPEAT - Help a rookie tow'er

Hooked up and headed out..

We just got back from a 4800 mile round trip from Ca. to Arkansas. This was the first long trip that we had taken with our truck and trailer. WOW... . I listed the highlights below to keep this post short.

Round trip average mileage 15 mpg
Cruising speed 65-70 mph
Highest EGT's 1200(got hung up in traffic on a hill.
Highest fuel price $1. 57
Lowest fuel price $1. 31
Truck repairs $453. 00
(Lift pump would not hold prime when parked up hill. Also hose and filter change)
New 2000-2001 flip out tow mirrors $272. 00

This is just the highlights of what went on and this does not include the time that I spent fishing with my dad and my 2 kids. It was real hard to come back to work after 3 1/2 weeks of vacation.
I love my truck!!! I was so impressed with the way that it pulls and handles. . I am ready to go again.

My first trip went smoothly too (I didn't have any truck repairs). We pulled our 26' fifth wheel from Colorado to California and back (~2500 miles). I weighed the pair at a CAT scale and was right at 18,000lbs. I had the cruise set on 75 (until I hit the 55mph limit in California). The truck would generally maintain 75 (I know the EZ helped), except for most hills. We averaged between 10-11mpg for the whole trip. It's a bit lower than I would have liked, but it beats the heck out of my 3/4 ton Suburban with a 454. Also, the absolute best mileage I've ever gotten out of the truck is still under 15mpg. Anyway, the whole rig performed flawlessly and I couldn't be happier with the truck.

I noticed that you have a 4" exhaust, how do you like it. Did it make a difference in your performance and also the EGT's
