This is good!

Does anybody remember what that shot in the arm the us kids of the 50s & 60s got? The reason I ask is due to the threat of smallpox used in biological warfare. This was the shot that left a mark on most people. Mom says it was smallpox I thought it was a T. B. test.

Mike, your Mom is correct, the mark is from a SP vaccine. Small pox was eradicated worldwide quite a few years ago due to the vaccine, the vaccine was then eliminated because some people got sick and 1 in 1 million died from the vaccine. Supposedly if terrorists released SP you will still be immune if you were vaccinated.

I've heard that soldiers in war (Viet Nam I think) used the the vacination marks to identify that another soldier was really an american.

I think that they have also been seen on actors in movies like Exodus or something like that, or was it they had watches on?

The smallpox immunization was supposed to last about 10 years. So if the virus is ever released, we would all be toast. Not just the young folks.

The SP vaccination was not a shot. They took a sharp instrument and scratched the skin enough to break through the flesh. They then applied the vaccine and eventually a scab would form and when it healed, you were left with a permanent scar. At least that is the way it was done when I was a kid.
