The 2nd gens dont have vacuum hubs. The Central Axle Disconnect is opperated by vacuum but the u-joints are turning all of the time. Now the newer Fords have vacuum hubs.
Chris with ours, they're either locked or unlocked, don't have to think about it or worry about them being locked or unlocked. Simple-better. Plus like on a previous post about them sticking out far, I like the look. Truely looks heavy duty. Bill
Those auto hubs come off fords either f-250 or f-350 from 92-97. there are 3 different styles. One of them is for the dana 44 outers which have a small diameter. The other two are the ones that you want. As long as the outer is the same diameter they should work. Dont forget to use the ford axle nuts also. They are special for some reason. I had a 1996 f250 that I converted to manual hubs. They have to be moving to engage. If you get stuck in 2x4 then shift to 4x4 you will still have 2wd until the fronts roll about a half a turn. I would stick with the factory warns. They are an excellent hub with minimal problems. They are a proven design. If you want looks upgrade to warn premium. They have a gold metal knob with no plastic. Good luck CB parker.
