On the vacuum line above the exhaust elbow that goes into the cab there is a tapered rubber end on it and it is split = vacuum leak!!! Does anyone have any suggestions on repairing, rather than replacing the whole line??

Thanks in advance,

Tracy

I once purchased a small plastic box of "Assorted vacuum caps and fittings" that had tapered universal fittings. The "Help" parts selection at most auto parts stores should have something that you can make work if it is a single tube fitting. If it is a double molded fitting, like on the CAD, that's more of a challenge.

Heat shrink tube. Avaliable at electronic stores (Radio Shack) Maybe at Lowes/Home Depot.

Years ago I made a "temporary" fix on a vacuum hose on my old Chevy work truck with heat shrink tube. After 4 years I'm thinking it's a permanent fix.

Coat it with a blob of silicone sealant. Vacuum leaks are not hard to seel from the outside. If it was a pressure line that would not work.
