Just a word of warning to anyone that's trying to use a vacuum compressor for air horns!!
I spliced a tee into the vacuum line coming out of the vacuum pump and ran a line down to my compressor - hooked everything up and horns worked great ( this is an old style compressor) and I may be one of the few that still have one.
Everything was working as usual until I took a test drive - backed into the drive, hit the brakes and had a very hard pedal and noticed the ABS lite was on. I pulled the line off that I had connected to the tee and put a rubber vacuum cap on and the problem went away ( so far anyway).
What I think caused this is that the compressor has an internal leak and was starving the brake booster of vacuum, needless to say,I'm going to use an electric compressor and ditch the vacuum one . Brakes failure is not something I want when towing a 31' fifth wheel weighing 12,000 lbs.
Hope this serves as a warning for anyone out there.
