Just got done replacing the seal between the vacuum pump and power steering pump on my truck. I used a rebuild kit from Fixinrams.com and was very pleased with the kit. The kit came with all the gaskets required for a rebuild (actually as second set of gaskets were supplied in case there was a problem with the first installation), instructions, special "tools" and a DVD tutorial. The special tools were a set of PVC pipes sized to ease the removal and installation of the shaft seal that was leaking. The DVD also provided some handy tips with regard to the remove and installation of the vacuum pump assembly. Overall it took me about 5 hours to complete the entire removal, seal replacement, and reinstallation of the vacuum pump assembly but I also work awfully slow.

To remove the vacuum pump (in sequence), I took off the air intake horn, removed the intake tube from the driver's side intercooler connection, then the vacuum hose from the pump, next I loosened the bolts holding on the PS pump, lossened the oil supply line from the vacuum pump, removed the two bolts holding the vacuum pump to the engine, removed the bracket between the engine and the PS pump, finished removing the oil supply line, and finished removing the bolts holding on the PS pump. At that point the vacuum pump was loose and could rebuilt at the work bench. Installation is just the reverse. Only hard part was reattaching the oil feed line to the vacuum pump. Do that before the pump is reattached as it is fairly difficult to get attached. Only general tools are needed; if I remember correctly, 8, 10, 13 and 15 mm sockets and wrenches for all the connections. It is a rather messy job as the oil for the leaking seal gets everything pretty well coated with dirt.
