The vacuum pump in my 93 D250 is leaking oil and vacuum pressure. I have priced rebuilt units for around $350. 00 at NAPA and Autozone. Does anyone know of a supplier for a rebuild kit for these pumps? Or, am I better off just paying the 350. 00 for a rebuilt unit?

vac re-build

that kit off e-bay is just the seals. you can get the same seal from cummins for les than 1/5 the price. i dont have the part #'s with me, being i am at work. but i will post them on here tomorrow. as well as the service manual section for the vac pump. it breakes it down easy, so you dont need that $60+shipping kit and DVD.

Cummins P/N

If it is the diaphram canister type vacuum pump (two pods) you can get the remanufactured canister cheaper than the $300 plus from Chrysler or Cummins. Cardone P/N 641300 from just about any parts store, Advanced Auto Parts, Checker etc. My local parts warehouse had it in stock for $167. 00.

The Cummins vacuum pump seal kit P/N 4089742, gasket, seals and o-ring I believe. Under $10. 00

You can get them separate too,

Gasket P/N 3938655

Seal O-rings P/N 3910260 - Qty-2

Seal O-ring P/N 3911805

I would check the vacuum from both pods separately first, might get lucky and only be a bad o-ring seal.

Actually I do. I don't have the manual, nor the smarts to figure it out. I'm pretty stupid (do a search of my previous posts) and NEED to see pictures of someone doing the repair.

Thanks anyway.

manual

the manual breaks it down pritty simple with pics and all. if you want, i can scan them tonight and send them to you.

Phil,

Thanks for the Info. on the seal repair kit from ebay. I'm going to check with Cummins in E. Tulsa, and see if they offer repair kits for the (93 model) Vac. pump seals. If they don't, then the kit you mentioned on ebay looks like the way to go.
