If it actually burned those 2 quarts and didn't leak the oil you need to do some serious mechanican. I pulled my engine when it started using a quart in 800 miles, but it had 790k on it with lots of heavy towing. Before you pull the engine remove the head and get it checked over real good. Also take a look at the pistons and cylinder walls. It is also possible to remove the pan and push a couple of the front pistons out if you want to check ring wear. I wouldn't mess around with a heavier oil.

It did actually burn it. Not any external leaks to speak of. Unfortunately I won't have any time or the shop for the next year and half to get around to rebuilding it and definitely won't have the $$ to pay someone to do it either. Can't bring myself to have somebody else do it anyways (that would be no fun). So, I have to find a way to make it last and drive. I guess I'll just keep throwing oil at it.

BTW I drove near Killeen this past week on our way back to Wichita Falls from San Antonio.

However, if somebody has a deal on a take out or a short block/long block I guess I would be interested.
