Bleed Brakes?

I just removed my hydroboost unit and left the brake master cylinder and brake lines untouched. Talked to Hydratech today and they concurred with what I said about not being necessary to bleed the brakes if the brake lines are not removed. So far it seems to have worked. I just hung the master cylinder out of the way and pulled the hydroboost unit up thru the top... was a little tight but worked.

By the way, the Dodge manual said to remove the master cylinder and brake lines and the combination valve/RWAL valve and its bracket (mounted there under the master cylinder). I didn't do any of that... so I won't have to bleed the brakes. The 4 mounting nuts (master cylinder to hydroboost) were a pain to remove cause of limited access with all the brake/power steering lines and the master cylinder in the way but a stubby 15mm wrench helped.

It wasn't too hard to remove the unit. If your not installing another hydroboost unit right away, then be sure to defeat the brake light switch at the brake pedal because your brake lights will stay on until the brake pedal is connected back to the new hydroboost unit. I used a tie wrap on the brake switch to fool it. Also before you start, with ignition off, depress the brake pedal 5-6 times to release the pressure in the hydroboost accumulator before the power steering pump lines are removed from the hydroboost unit. I didn't have any problem with residual pressure in any of the lines while removing the 3 p. s. pump lines) from the hydroboost.

I sent my old unit in to Hydratech today. Probably be 7-10 days til I get the new one back. I'll let you know how that goes. Any questions let me know.
