so if i've got oil SPEWING out between the vacuum pump and PS pump connector, and a hard brake pedal, does that mean my vacuum pump is shot? thanks guys.
Dave, all I can say is the vacuum pump(s) are rebuildable. Well at least the diapragm style on the nonIC'd motors. There is rebuild info in my 89 Cummins manual for my style, not sure on the vane style, I believe its called. Wish I could assist more.
thanks for the link scott. looks like there really isn't much to it. and i already have the gasket to the timing cover. do you think i could just get some o rings from napa or something? i think the gasket is the expensive part. it was about 25 bucks i think.
You can buy a rebuild kit from Cummins for less than $10. I think the vacuum pumps for your truck is the same as mine? It includes seals and o-rings and a gasket. I have a spare gasket if anyone needs it. The vane part is not fixable as far as I know. Let me know if you need help finding part numbers I posted them a while back.
