Vacuum pump seal

Just want all you TDR guys to know that I'm not going to take this vacuum pump seal thing lying down. I am just locking up over the fact that there is no part number for the pesky seal and o-ring on back of pump. I know from previous posts that the dimensions for the seal are in here and will use that method shortly to fix mine as is starting to leak worse.

I want to add some information that I found out yesterday as I am going to get these numbers if it takes me two months to do it. Got into Cummins on-line at work and found the Cummins part number for pump is 3925102. (By the way,P/S pump has Cummins part number of 3925103 just in case another source is needed. ) In notes regarding this 3925102 pump,it shows the manufacturer as Wabco! Wee Ha, We are also dealer for Meritor/Rockwell who bought Wabco back along. Started calling tech lines as day went on and finally got Wabco's origional tech department. They called me just before quitting time and said they can not break it down. I strongly urged her to talk to whoever and get me those numbers from whatever contracter that built it and release these as there is a market. I will continue to pester them for an answer. By the way the part number from Wabco is 914-003-003-0. Maybe someone else has a way in.

I will continue to work on this and post if I can find out more. I know there are a lot of you interested in this and will do my best to get some good numbers. I get a lot from these forums and would like to give something back.

Pump

I tried the WABCO thing and got no where. The easyest thing to do is take it apart. The seal type and number is right on the seal. If you think you can't remove it yourself, an machine shop can press it out in seconds. My local shop got mine out and did'nt charge it was so easy. This assy. is the bigest rip-off of all the Dodge issues in my opinion. $1k for the assy verses 30 bucks for seal and o-ring, you do the math!

True enough on the Dodge prices. It appears to be that anything you can possibly buy through Cummins you should. The vacuum pump and p/s pump are both at least a third cheaper than Dodge. Am still going to pursue this seal thing just to see if it can be done. A good suggestion was made on a previous post to buy the high heat version and I am going to try to get a double lip as well.

My vacuum pump finally got bad enough to do the seal. ( Letting mechanic do it. )

They got gasket/ seal kit from Dodge but naturally it did not have seal that was leaking. Called a source at one dealer, had part number for it but none in stock. They called other dealer they did not know about part no. stated that we had to buy whole unit ( vacuum /power steering pump) for $600. 00. (source called them and told them the dealers did not sell them over the counter).



Mechanic told me they ordered seal from local distribitor instead (but CPFF will keep you in mind).



Makes you wonder how many customers they are charging 6 big ones for new pumps but only are putting in a seal ?:--) Oo.
