How grooved is the coupler on the power steering shaft? I heard you can put some shims behind the seal to cause it to ride in a different spot on the coupler.

i'm having that same problem withthevacuum pump, i contacted www.fixinrams and thay sell a seal kit that solves the problem. thay also move the seal to moke a new wear patern good luck jim

Yup, Royal is correct. Dodge wants $65. 00 for the EXACT same kit (even has the Cummins number under the Mopar sticker). I got one from my local Cummins dealer 2 days ago for $7. 42. Really easy, I'd never had mine off before, took me about 2 hours or so, and I did a lot of cleaning.

D. Schultz, what seals are you replacing? No insult intended, but are you SURE you're installing the double lip oil seal the correct way? The instructions say to install with the dust lip down, I almost read that as oil lip down, but it is DUST lip. Install it backwards and it will leak for sure.
