I have the famous oil leak between the vacuum pump and P/S pump. I've already gotten the seal and O-ring. Anybody have advice as to how to fix it? Is it better to pull the entire assembly or just the P/S pump? Any tricks or things to watch out for? TIA!
The manual states to take both off at same time but Looking at diagrams and the real thing it looks like you could remove steering pump by itself. I believe some members have.
You can take the PS pump off without the vacuum comming off. The problem with that is you will not be able to see up inside the vacuum to clean and fit the PS pump back. I was told to make sure the yoke fitting is clean and a coating is put on the gasket to prevent a future leak. I had a mech do mine and he did not use the black silicon gasket maker and my leak is back. Now I gotta so it again.
Mine was leaking also, I went by the manual (which is a pain in the butt). It's been back together for about a week and a half and guess what, it's back to leaking. Go figure. Oh well, have fun.
Here I thought I had the only leaker. Mine has had an oil drip since new. Im going to the dealer to have it looked at along with the oil pan leak and a leak between the transmission and transfer case. My truck must know this because when I looked at it this weekend it was dry and no oil drip.
